Beech Tree House Residential Home
Keinton Mandeville, Somerset
About Us
Beech Tree House offers residents the chance to socialise and relax in a welcoming care home situated in the centre of a beautiful Somerset village.
This is a specialised dementia care home with a family, ‘homely’ feel to it. Surrounded by the lovely, mature garden, easily accessible from the house and enclosed by an old stone wall for security, residents are encouraged to sit in the garden and enjoy the calm sound of the many native birds or to sit by the pond and enjoy the reflections and wildlife.
Trained staff ensure residents’ needs and wishes are met and they are treated with dignity and respect and encouraged to remain as independent as possible. The home is decorated in a homely way and communal areas are laid out to make it easy for everyone to navigate.
Our staff are specifically trained in dementia care, so they understand the needs of our residents and can support them accordingly with care and activities that:
- Help your loved one remain safe
- Helps everyone understand different behaviours and needs
- Promotes and encourages involvement in stimulating and engaging activities
- Builds confidence and encourages engagement
- Builds self-esteem and physical strength
The accommodation is made up of 14 single and 1 double room, centrally heated, twelve of which have en-suite facilities. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furniture if they wish and to make their space their own. All rooms have an emergency call system, attended by 24 hour waking staff.
Meals are ‘home cooked’ and prepared in the kitchen - using fresh meat, vegetables, fruit and locally sourced produce whenever possible. The menu is varied, and individual preferences and special dietary needs can be catered for.

Yvonne Smith
Registered Manager
I started my career in care way back in 1987 as a domestic assistant in a small residential home. Worked my way from this position to carer. When I moved homes I progressed to a senior carer. Then took on the job as a registered manager in a home care business. This progressed to the manager of a care home in 2005. Since then I have managed 3 care home from 15 to 30 beds.
I love looking after the elderly and have a passion for dementia. Beech tree has a special quality about it and that’s why I have come back again as the manager, The residents are lovely and the home has a serene quality within it.

Testimonials
From the beginning, Alan and his team made Yvonne most welcome and helped us with regards to her settling in period. The home has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are all very caring and clearly know their residents very well. Yvonne always looks well cared for and her needs are catered for to a high standard. On visits, we are always given updates regarding Yvonne's health, activities and such like. Regular newsletters and pictures complement this and help put Bills mind at rest.
Alan and his staff are clearly passionate about their home and its residents and this comes across to us and is greatly reassuring.
We cannot thank them all enough for taking such good care of Yvonne.
My husband went there from the hospital and showed signs of improvement from the first day. He had more energy, was more alert and less confused. He is very vulnerable emotionally and I was worried that he would feel lost and insecure away from home. To my great relief, he always looks very integrated and secure with every member of staff and the other residents.
The staff's cheerfulness and good humour is noteworthy in this difficult and often frustrating area of care.
Being a small home Beech Tree House has a family home feel to it - not at all like an institution. The lovely, mature garden is easily accessible from the house and is enclosed by an old stone wall so there is no risk of residents wandering off.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks for the care you are giving my mother-in-law. We have heard nothing but the highest praise for all the carers and workers at Frairn House and this sets our hearts at ease.
